I am xiuhan and i will be sharing with all of you the details of our proposed plan.
There are 3 objectives for our proposed plan.
Our first objective is to raise awareness of office ergonomic among office workers. Such as the work-related problems like backaches and neck pains, the correct ergonomic practices and the benefits of these practices.
This is the statistics that we have collected from our survey results. Out of the 50 workers that we had surveyed, only 14% of them feel that their companies promote office ergonomics, thus this shows that there is VERY LOW office ergonomic awareness among the workers, therefore there is a NEED for us to raise the workers' awareness of ergonomics.
Our second objective is to increase the productivity of workers by reducing their chances of suffering from the work-related problems that we had mentioned earlier. In this way, the workers will be in better health conditions to work and thus be more efficient in their work.
Our third and last objective is to have a sustainable effect for workers that practice ergonomics so that seeing the benefits of ergonomics, the workers will be more encourage to continue practising ergonomics in the future.
In order to achieve our objectives, we need to collect relevant information that will help us in our proposed plan. Therefore, we issued pre-campaign surveys to United Overseas Bank and Tomy Printing Company workers. However, we are not able to name the UOB branch due to the strict rules and regulations. By collecting these surveys, we will then be able to gauge how much does an avg white collar worker knows about office ergonomic and about how many are practising office ergonomics.
Then, we interview Karen who is specialised and trained in optical area from EverBright Eyewear regarding the suitable eye exercises that we can teach to the workers.These are some of the interview questions that we had with Karen.
Afterwhich we interview a florist from Ang Mo Kio Floral and Landscape who has been running a florist business for years, regarding the types of plants that are suitable to grow in office environment. Here are some of the interview questions that we had for the florist.These are the three office plants that are sold in that shop.
After collecting those important information, we carried out a pilot project at Tomy Printing Company and UOB on 50workers. We choose Tomy Printing company and a branch of UOB because they have a small base of workers, thus it will be easier for us to manage our proposed plan. If our pilot project is successfully, then we will consider to introduce it to bigger companies.
There are several ways we used to spread ergonomic informations to those workers.
Firstly is through a PowerPoint Presentation to the workers during their lunch breaks to let them have a brief idea of what is ergonomics about. Our slides includes aspects such as correct ergonomics practices, negative impacts of poor ergonomics, benefits of ergonomics and more.
Then, to add on to the PowerPoint Slides, we showed the workers a short YouTube Video with detailed instructions of ergonomics practices so that the workers can have a clearer idea of the practises.
Next, we conducted a real-time teaching session with the workers by teaching them the correct eye exercises, sitting postures and stretchings, and let them have time to try the practices out. The five of us corrected any mistakes that the workers made and clear any doubts that they raised. By doing so, we can ensure that all workers practised the correct ergonomic practices as wrong ergonomic practices can do harm to the body instead.

Lastly, brochures containing the information alike to the PowerPoint slides were given out to every worker. The workers will then be able to infer to the brochures on the eye exercises and stretching if they were to forget the moves, also the brochures are printed with pictures at different steps to guide the workers along. The workers may also share the information on the brochures with their friends and family, so that more people will be able to benefit from office ergonomic.
After the whole pilot test for our campaign, we distribute post-campaign surveys to the 50 workers to gauge whether our campaign is a success. And we found out that one of the workers even shared the information with her children!
This is one of the survey questions. Before our campaign, only 20% of the workers know the importance of ergonomics, however after our campaign the numbers increased greatly to 88%! Thus, through our campaign more people know the importance of ergonomics and can benefit from it. Hence our campaign is indeed useful.
Now i shall pass it to pavithra to tell all of you more about the limitations that we had faced.
